“Pirates 2”
24-Hour Steeple Race
Start: Tuesday, July 16 at 9pm SLT
End: Wednesday, July 17 at 9pm SLT
SummerFest kicks off with a 24-hour steeple race on the brand new “Pirates 2” course! Runs are limited to 30. The race starts on Tuesday, April 16 at 8pm and ends on Wednesday at 8pm. This is a lengthy steeple course that requires a bit of practice! The race will be held in the Blackwater Competition Stadium and the course will be open for practice commencing July 5. Ribbons will be given to all ponies, with special ribbons for the top ten.

Dressage Competition
Heat 1: Friday, July 19 at 10am
Heat 2: Friday, July 19 at 5pm
The silent dressage competition will be hosted in the Old Blackwater Stadium on Friday, July 19. The event will be hosted in two heats to accommodate different time zones. Each heat will feature silent dressage first, followed by flower dressage. Each heat is expected to last for approximately two hours. Ponies may compete in either heat, but may not compete in both heats.
Silent Dressage Competition
The silent dressage competition is a judged event. The competition will be in the traverse style. Heat 1 will begin at 10am. Heat 2 will begin at 5pm.
The rules for silent dressage in the traverse style, as they are used at Blackwater Farm, are located here. Please be familiar with those rules. We understand that the rules may be different at other farms. The competition will be judged according to the Blackwater Farm rules.

Pre-registration is not required; ponies who simply “show up” at the competition are welcome to participate. However, pre-registration is encouraged to help make the event run as smoothly as possible.
Ponies without trainers are welcome to compete. If you do not have a trainer, but wish to compete as a pony, Blackwater Farm will supply a trainer for you who is familiar with the traverse style of dressage and the competition rules.
If you wish to learn silent dressage (or brush up on your skills), you can find a helpful guide here.
If you need a place to practice silent dressage, you can practice at the Blackwater Dressage Fields. The field used for silent dressage at that location is the same field that will be used in the competition.
Ribbons will be awarded to all participants, with special place ribbons awarded to the top ten finishers. Additional ribbons will be awarded to the best in show and other categories.

Flower Dressage Competition
The flower dressage competition will be hosted in the Old Blackwater Stadium immediately following the conclusion of the silent dressage competition. Heat 1 will not begin any earlier than 10:30am. Heat 2 will not begin any earlier than 5:30pm.
This is a competition in the traditional flower style.
The rules for flower dressage, and the competition format used at Blackwater Farm, can be found here. Please familiarize yourself with both the rules and the competition format used by Blackwater Farm, both of which can be found at the link above. We understand that rules and formats may vary from farm to farm. Please be sure to read and understand our farm’s rules prior to competing, so as to avoid any misunderstanding.
The competition will use the scripted Flower Dressage Training Field sold by Aida Beorn.
You are welcome to train for flower dressage, using the exact field that will be used in the competition, at the Blackwater Dressage Fields.

SummerFest Carting Caravan

Did you know Blackwater ponies cart almost every day of the week? Join us on a Friday night carting excursion exploring the gorgeous Routes 1 and 3 in Heterocera. The caravan will assemble at Blackwater Stables prior to departing for Heterocera.
“Telra’s Log Jump”
Live Steeple Race

Summer is here! The brand new “Telra’s Log Jump” is not new at all; it is a recreation of a course created at Sunstone Ranch by the legendary Telra Huntress. We are honored to remember her legacy by recreating one of her classic courses. This is a live race in two heats. The morning heat commences on Saturday, July 20 at 11am. The evening heat commences the same day, Saturday, at 5pm. The race will be held in the Blackwater Competition Stadium. Each heat lasts for two hours. Ponies may participate in either of the two heats, but may not compete in both heats. Ribbons will be given to all ponies, with special ribbons for the top ten. The course will be open for practice commencing July 13.

SummerFest Polo Tournament
Sunday, July 21 at 11am
SummerFest concludes with a polo tournament. The SummerFest Polo Tournament starts at 11am on Sunday, July 21 in the Blackwater Competition Stadium.
This is a double-elimination bracket seeded randomly on a flat field. Blackwater’s polo competition rules can be found here.
To participate in the tournament, all teams must pre-register. (This is necessary to create the bracket for the competition.) The registration deadline is 11:59pm on Friday, July 19.
